Four pound Smallmouth on the VMC NRJ!
Ott Defoe Talks about the new VMC NRJ
I fished the new from VMC Ned Rig Jig (NRJ) this past weekend and have found my new favorite Ned jig! The VMC NRJ looks similar to other Ned Jigs, but a closer inspection reveals some small but important differences.
The needle sharp VMC Hook with a hybrid bend really hooks and holds fish!
First and foremost the VMC NRJ is equipped with a needle sharp, vanadium steel, light wire VMC 90 Degree jig hook. Theses hooks are super sharp and super strong, and the points stay sharp after a day in the rocks. The hybrid bend, wide gap is great for hooking and holding fish. I only missed one fish the entire day, and I'm sure that was my fault. These hooks really stick and hold!
Pointed heads come through rocks better than other jigs.
The small point on top of the dead gives this jig an advantage while pulling through rocks, and tends to lead to less snags while fishing. I fish some super snaggy stuff, and typically loose several jigs a day. throughout a full day of fishing I only lost 1 - that is a huge improvement for me, and saves a lot of time working on snags and re-tying when you break off.
Beveled conical keeper really holds your bait in place!
The unique beveled edge conical keeper. This keeper is lower on the hook shank, allowing you to secure the bait more efficiently. I found that my bait stayed firmly in place and I did not have to keep re-rigging it through out the day. Typically, I will pre-rig several neds with super glue, but those says are over - I don't remember ever having to re-rig my ned one single time throughout the day!
The VMC NRJ caught fish after fish with no re-rigging!!
The new VMC NRJ is available in sizes 1/16, 1/8. 3/4 and 1/4 oz in black, green pumpkin and chartreuse.
Available in 1/16, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 OZ in colors Black, Green and Chartreuse from VMC.
